Randy Glenn Memorial Photo and Art Contest
Every year the Sea Horse Dive Club holds the Randy Glenn Memorial Photo and Art Contest to celebrate the creativity of our club members. Many of our members enjoy adding photography and videography to their diving experiences. This is our time to share that work with the world. The contest is held in October in conjunction with our first indoor meeting of the Fall.
2010 Contest
The 2009 contest will be held Thursday, October 28nd at 7:00 PM at the Boeing Oxbow Recreation Center. See below for all the categories and rules. Deadline for submissions is October 28th 2010 at 6:30 PM. No entries will be accepted after the deadline.
The Rules...
Photographs
- You must be a Sea Horse Dive Club member
- All entries must be in print form. No slides will be accepted.
- The entering member must have taken the photo.
- No photo retouching is allowed
- Matting and framing is encouraged (Max. overall size 16 x 20)
- Entries must be marked on the back with the photographers name.
- Entries must be named.
- Sea Horse Dive Club winning or placing entries from previous years can not be entered.
Video/Multimedia
- The preferred format is DVD. If you want to use some other format then check with me. You will probably need to provide the viewing equipment.
- The entering member must have taken, edited, produced the entry.
- Maximum combined length is 5 minutes (Could be 2 @ 2 ½ minutes).
- Entries must be named and it is encouraged that you set it to music or narration.
New for our 50th Anniversary: Historic
- Entries must be marked on the back with the photographers name
- Shots of club related activities or from club related activities above or below water
- Entries must be named and, if possible, the date of the photo, the people in it, and a short description/story of the club activity during which it was taken should accompany the photo.
The Categories
Cold Water Macro
Pictures taken underwater in below 65 degree water at greater than 1 to 1 scale
Cold Water Wide Angle
Pictures taken underwater in below 65-degree water at less than 1 to 1 scale
Above Water, Dive Related
Pictures taken above water that relate to diving.
Warm Water Macro
Pictures taken underwater in above 65-degree water at greater than 1 to 1 scale
Warm Water Wide Angle
Pictures taken underwater in above 65-degree water at less than 1 to 1 scale
Novice
Pictures taken by someone who has been doing underwater photography less than 1 year.
Video & Multimedia
This includes both video and multimedia.
Historic
The entry must be Sea Horse Dive Club related, but can have been taken above or below water.
Artistic
The entry must be dive related and must have been created by the submitting member. Besides that, the entry can be manipulated digitally or otherwise in any way you want to create an artistic scene that will capture the viewer's imagination.
General Information
- The members present will get to place one vote in each category for the photo they thought was best. The winning entries in each category will be eligible for Best Of Show.
- The judging for Best Of Show will be done by 3 members of the Sea Horse Executive board who are present and did not win any category.
- If any problems or disputes arise during the contest, the photo contest chairman and two executive board members present will jointly resolve the issue.
Directions to the Oxbow Recreation Center, Boeing 9-150 Building
From I-5 (either direction)
Take Exit 158 and cross West over the freeway.
Turn RIGHT on East Marginal Way S.
Turn LEFT at the stoplight at S102nd.
Cross the Duwamish Waterway, take the first LEFT after the bridge, and look for the Oxbow Fitness Center straight ahead.
