Saltwater State Park

This site has some Sea Horse historical value.  Several members moved a few hundred tires, which were dumped by a fishing club, into several types of tire reefs.  An occasional park ranger questioned them about their activities.  There were still a hundred tires unmoved and viable habitat for small fish and barnacles in the shallows after they stopped work.

April 2009

This year many of the tires and tire piles were removed.  Then piles of large boulders and concrete pilings were laid down on top of the piles.  A couple of the piles have three pilings.  I found four piles of boulders and two piles of smaller rocks April 2009.  Shrimp and starfish were checking out the new digs.  I placed a couple of metridium anemonees on the southwest pile.

Night dives

The park ranger said we will need a permit to do a night dive here. Look forward to one in October-November this year.

July 2009 Brian made a sketch of the three major rock piles and pilings.
