Twenty Sea Horses attended and George opened the meeting talking about recent dives and an upcoming pancake feed to benefit a children's health organization by the same people who put on Dive-Around-the-Clock (July 18 & 19). Our program this month was presented by Eliza Heery. Eliza is working on her PhD studies with UW Biology department and is focusing on Urban Marine Ecology. She is gathering data to better understand the impacts of urban areas on marine ecosystems. She talked about the projects that make up her overall study including projects on urchin populations, giant Pacific octopus diet and marine fauna and flora coverage of rip-rap rock areas in urban locals. Next month the presentation will be from the Sea Shepard organization.
