Dive Report for the Crayfish Dive in Lake Washington

posted Sep 6, 2015, 2:13 PM by Ed Gullekson
The Crayfish Dive at Seward Park does not get as much publicity as other activities so I thought I'd make sure it got good coverage this year. We met this morning and geared up at the picnic shelter. There were 6 divers;Ken EngelmeyerDebbie Engelmeyer, new member Ken BuzelleRandy PedersenMonica Fredrickson, and myself. Brian Heath was organizing from the beach and LaRae Pedersen was also beach support. We swam out over the milfoil into 20+ feet and dropped. The crayfish were under rocks, in holes and sometimes in cans. A few larger fish checked us out. Water temp was 64-65. Two dive teams gathered crayfish and Monica and I scouted and took photos. Back on the beach we could see a good haul of the clawed critters. Brian had the cooker going and in 20 minutes they were ready to eat. Here's some photos of the whole thing. Thank you Brian for organizing and Randy for bringing the cooking device.  See photos on the FB page.
