Dive report from Redondo 12/28/14

posted Dec 28, 2014, 9:55 PM by Ed Gullekson

Report from the dive at Redondo today 12/28/14. Cliff Olmsted, Pieter Booth, David Wakeley and I met this morning for a couple dives at Redondo. It was king tide time so the water was up about 3 or 4 steps at the entry. Fortunately it was calm and entry was easy. We went deep on the first dive and found a couple red octos (adult and juv) and 2 GPO's. Tubesnouts were out and rockfish were chasing the plentiful shrimp. On the second dive we went shallow to the north and saw gunnels (2 in the back seat of the VW looked amorous), sculpins on eggs and more. Some healthy seastars seem to have survived the wasting disease and portend a possible recovery in the future. Water temp was 50-51, vis was 15 to 25 depending on how close you were to newer divers.
