JD Rowe, Shark diving junkie  Sharks and shark tooth fossils

Rick Stratton – SCUBA & H2O Adventure Show

Your family and all of your diving and non-friends are invited to our next club presentation.  We’re proud to feature club member JD Rowe to show and tell all about the collection of prehistoric shark teeth he has gathered from around the country.

JD, a Shark Diving Junkie and well traveled diver will present to you a bounty of stories about his recovery of shark teeth.  He will be showing some videos, photos, shark teeth, and he will be answering all your questions on how you can discover these fascinating treasures yourself.  Much of his presentation will include:

·         Where to find them – Dive sites and dry land sites.   Locations, seasons, tips and techniques for finding them.

·         What is a fossil versus a tooth from a recent shark?

·         How is the best way for you find them?  Why are the shark teeth there?

·         How do I know how old they are?  How do I tell what species it is?    Is it rare?

·         How many teeth does a shark have, how long do they last and how are they arranged?

JD has traveled the world diving with many types of sharks:  bulls, six gills, horn sharks, tiger sharks, hammerheads, lemons, reef, whale sharks, Great Whites and of course the ever intimidating nurse sharks.   He has a terrific sense of humor too. He has also developed a fascination with shark teeth and collected many of them.   If you have an interest in sharks and in shark teeth this is the Seahorse meeting to come to.

Additionally, Rick Stratton, Principal Sponsor of the Upcoming Seattle SCUBA and H2O Adventure Show will present some important and exciting info about the upcoming show on April 11-12 at Pier 91. He may even bring along some give-aways to the meeting!  More info on the show can be found here:
