Scott West - Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

We are thrilled to be able to, once again, host Scott West of the SSCS. If you missed him the first time, now is your chance to hear first-hand about this passionate organization dedicated to the defending of our marine environments. Scott will be able to provide details of the latest update on the interesting legal issues regarding the Southern Ocean whale campaign, the Japanese whaling operation, and the International Court of Justice. Also, get info on the upcoming campaign against the killing of pilot whales in the Danish Faroe Islands and the on-going campaign against the killing of dolphins in Taiji, Japan.

Scott first became a certified diver in 1974. He retired as the Special Agent-in-Charge of EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division for the Pacific Northwest in late 2008. A member of SSCS for 25 years, Scott now runs the Department of Intelligence and Investigations at SSCS. He participated in many Antarctic whale campaigns.

Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Their mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.
